After the success of my 2014 Dothraki Khaleesi costume, I wanted to create a greeting card that I thought my friends would enjoy. What better holiday than valentines for a heart-eating Khaleesi!
Painted & Sealed
For the envelopes, I hand brushed a mixture of water and spent coffee and dark tea. I did not soak the envelopes as I found the paper ripped too easily and did not age/color the envelopes.
I wrote the recipient names with a standard calligraphy pen next. While it’d seem more official for a quill and ink, the envelopes were not too thick and already weakened from being painted, so I did not want to risk bleeding through.
Fire & Blood
I found a wax sealer of the Targaryen house sigil via Etsy. Protip: Use a small sticker or maybe masking tape on the envelope before melting the wax. I found that the wax was too hot and melted through the envelope to the card, ripping some for my recipients 🙁
