Website | CIS300: Author Re-Design

Suzanne Collins – Spring 2012

Project Scope: Redesign a book author’s website. Design includes HTML/CSS. Content was to be borrowed from author’s site to show transition into new design. Redesign incorporates two functional pages.

I decided to rework the author Suzanne Collin’s Works/Books page along with her bio page. I chose her works page because I felt it was not interactive. On her original site, people wouldn’t necessarily know things are links unless their mouse happen to rollover the link. There also was lack of links to purchase products. The bio page also needed redesign. Ms. Collin’s bio page wasn’t very thorough. Granted, more content will need to come from her directly, but it is a start to allow more user interactivity to keep visitors on her site.

My favorite part of the project was being able to choose who or what business I want to show support. I love The Hunger Games series and this allows me to continue my “obsession” with creativity. I also really like the website layout. At first I wasn’t so sure which color scheme to go with. With Ms. Collins now living in Connecticut, I think of colonial architecture and wood paneling came to mind. For the teal/mint color, I personally love that color.
